Wholesalers Worry That New Security Checks Will Spoil Food (USA Today)

Wholesalers are a key part of product marketing for many companies and they are especially critical in industries where products are perishable and must be moved quickly.  In this story, wholesalers in the food distribution business are concerned with the growing enforcement of laws intended to check for bombs in shipped products.

The concern is mostly limited to food products that are shipped through airports but one can see enforcement expanding to other delivery methods such as railroads and trucks.

Some freight is now being screened, but a big test comes in January. That's when goods being hauled out of Alaska and Hawaii on passenger planes must undergo screening.

If wholesalers see product spoilage increase due to a backlog created by product scanning, what are the  ramifications for other marketers?
