Amazon Is Selling Designs of Its Own (Wall Street Journal)

Private label products are huge for most big name retailers so it is no surprise Amazon is building its own line of products. Though it is a bit of a surprise that they already have so many "build to our specs" products.

Amazon doesn't say what percentage of its $19 billion in annual sales are from its private-label business, but it already sells more than 1,000 products that are manufactured at its request.

As Amazon continues to evolve, will it ever have brick-and-mortar stores?

There are several lists of top brands but the one presented by Interbrand, a marketing research company, is one of the best. And what is nice about this list is the monetary values they assign to each brand. The actual list of 100 top brands can be found here.

Brands are more than just names, colors or logos — think Coca-Cola's red or McDonald's (MCD) golden arches. A brand includes all the elements of a product or service from its design, ingredients and manufacture to its marketing, advertising and logo.
