The Weblinks Collection |
- Alacra Industry Spotlights *This wiki-style site presented by a leading market research supplier offers an impressive list of information sources for over 65 industries. For most industries the information includes links to top publications, trade associations and key industry websites. Offers good starting point for industry research.
- BizMiner *Provides access to market studies, financial reports, franchise information and other reports that appear to be mostly compiled from data available through government sources.
- Datamonitor *Provider of reports covering several major industry groups with most reports being on the expensive side. However, they do occasionally offer free reports though it requires registration.
- eMarketer *This research provider focuses mostly on Internet and technology markets. They are considered research aggregators since they gather statistics presented in research reports produced by other sources and then present their own take on what is happening. Basic abstracts and some stats are free, detailed reports are fee based.
- Euromonitor *Publishes in both print format and online many reports dealing with market intelligence in numerous industries. These publications include several global market share reports as well as studies of specific product markets. However, all reports are very expensive and most likely only available to the well-funded researcher. To find a report for individual use the best bet is to locate the name of the report at Euromonitor then enter the report's name in an Internet search engine but filter search results to only search nearby universities. In this way users can see if the report is available locally.
- Housewares MarketWatch *Quarterly report from industry trade group that provides data on consumer purchases of houseware products based on point-of-sales data for 52 product categories. Nice resource considering it is free!
- InfoTech Trends *Offers Information Technology marketing research reports culled from reports found in leading technology publications. While latest research is fee-based, they do offer a nice free search of older reports.
- JupiterDirect *Market research firm, JupiterResearch, allows for purchase of its extensive offering of research reports.
- Market Share Reporter *Published by Thompson Gale Publishing, this publication has been a mainstay in university libraries for years. Essentially it provides summaries, culled from many sources, of market share information for numerous product categories (though some information tends to be dated). The publication is expensive and for individuals is probably best viewed at a library (probably in the reference section). Alternatively, access may be available through Lexis-Nexis Alacarte option.
- MarketResearch.com *This site acts as a distributor and publisher of marketing research reports. It has alliances with a large number of market research firms and also produces some material through its PackagedFacts research group. Also, they may allow for purchase of smaller sections of a big report by using their “Buy by the Slice” program.
- MindBranch *Research distributor providing access to research information from over 300 providers with special emphasis on listing newsletters that focus on certain topic areas.
- Mintel *Leading UK consumer research firm, this site offers hundreds of research reports covering mostly consumer products markets. Individual reports can be purchased but be prepared to pay a steep price.
- Snapdata *Provides fairly affordable market reports for a large number of industries in many geographic regions. Though these reports are brief and do not provide in-depth coverage they may be useful for researchers looking for access to quick market statistics.
- Statistical Reference Index *The SRI, available mostly at large university libraries, examines major magazines and journals looking for mentions of statistical information. While its strength is not in market statistics (it is better identifying demographic information) there is still information to be found especially under the Product Ratings area or even under listings for specific products.
- TableBase *Another product of Thompson Gale, this reference publication presents industry, company, and product information in the form of tables. Covers more than 90 industries worldwide. Like similar reference products, access to this one is best obtained via a university library. (note: link is to a PDF file).
- The Infoshop *This site is a supplier of high-end market reports that have a strong leaning toward Asian markets. While expensive, many samples of reports can be had for free (with registration).
