- Ad Council *Non-profit organization whose mission is to use "the power of advertising to stimulate action against the problems confronting Americans." Numerous Public Service Announcements (PSAs) messages have included Smokey the Bear, Crash Dummies Vince and Larry, and McGruff the Crime Dog.
- Advertising - Lowe Foundation *Several good, detailed articles discussing all areas of creating and managing advertising. Also, on this site, but for some reason not part of the advertising area, find a nice article on How To Establish a Promotional Mix.
- Advertising Education Foundation *Non-profit organization designed to help explain how advertising works. Message is primarily aimed at the college student.
- Advertising Standards Authority (UK) *"The ASA was set up in 1962 to make sure that non-broadcast advertisements appearing in the UK are legal, decent, honest and truthful."
- Advertising World - University of Texas *Excellent resource for all areas of advertising. Especially interesting is the Advertising Quotes section, which contains numerous advertising related comments made over the years. Quotes may be useful for those preparing a report or presentation.
- Advertising Your Business *Bank of America site that has a good multimedia presentation (plug-in needed) touching on the basics of advertising including coverage of various forms of advertising, budgeting, placement options and more.
- ChangingMinds *This site's principle focus is on the concept of persuasion and how persuasive techniques can be used in both beneficial and harmful ways. For marketers the most important contribution is the coverage this site provides for: 1) understanding how people communicate, with coverage of the communication process, the effect of words, and the importance of colors; and 2) understanding personal selling, with coverage of handling objections, negotiation and closing the sale.
- The Advertising Show *Weekly online interview and news show sponsored by AdvertisingAge Magazine. Covers mostly advertising but also offers insight into other marketing topics. While the audio feed is live on Saturdays, previous programs can be listened to at anytime.
- US Gov’t - Federal Trade Commission *The US Federal Trade Commission offers a large number of how-to and information articles focusing on many advertising issues covering all forms of media, many industries and advertising techniques. Information covers advertising, promotions, salespeople and selling methods, telephone solicitation and other forms of advertising and promotion.
