Nielsen Measurement

This service of Nielsen offers summary statistics across several media platforms, including television and Internet, as well as other consumer activities such as books and music.

OAIster

Ambitious search project from the University of Michigan that seeks to index digital, mostly academic, resources available through libraries and organizations worldwide. There is a lot here including articles, working papers, images and some video and audio clips. Much of the material is on the older side but could be valuable for historical research or for locating research threads. Search function is effective and result format is highly detailed.

Pew Internet and American Life Project

Pew Charitable Trust has commissioned this on-going research project (mostly based on telephone interviews) that "explores the impact of the Internet on children, families, communities, the work place, schools, health care and civic/political life." The reports produced are generally high quality and cover many different subjects. Best all these reports are FREE! Also, teachers in market research classes will find free access to datasets and their related questionnaires.

Population Reference Bureau

Those REALLY interested in demographics and demographic analysis will find many resources on this site which is a good collection point for US and international information. Best features include access to articles, country profiles and population summaries, DataFinder section for quickly locating information.

PR Associations

Listing of international, national and local (mostly US) PR and PR-related groups.

ProfNet

Operated by PR Newswire, this site is where many reporters go to locate industry experts. PR professionals can post information in the searchable database though there is a yearly fee to remain in the database. PR Newswire also has a separate Experts Database section available that could be useful in finding speakers.

Resources for Economists on the Internet

Offers inks to economic data around the world.

Quirk's List of Marketing Research Associations

International listing of marketing research associations and organizations.

Sales/Incentives/Promotion Associations

List of those associations dealing with incentives and promotions.

Search Engine Guide

Offers directory of hundreds of search engines, directories and portals in numerous categories and industries.

Sloan Center for Internet Retailing

This site has a number of technology and Internet related working papers and research tools dealing with e-commerce and Internet retailing. From the University of California Riverside.

Small Business Advancement National Center - Research Archives

Provides online access to conference proceedings, including full-text articles, from several different organizations that deal mainly with small business issues. Unfortunately, not all conferences are current.

SmartInvesting

This site functions as the backend provider of research reports for several online sites. Allows free access to many annual reports though users must provide a lot of information.

Social Science Research Network

Site is devoted mostly to academic research and contains smaller specialty areas including a Marketing Research Network. The site offers a searchable database of working papers (some downloadable) and email services containing abstracts of works in journals.

Speakers Platform

Offers a large, searchable database of mostly keynote speakers with several filtering options including searching by field of expertise, speaker fee and geographic area.

Television News Archives

This site from Vanderbilt University provides an extensive collection of TV news dating back to 1968. Focus is on evening news broadcasts and certain special reports. Database is searchable by story title, description, year and source. Once item is found a video tape loan copy can be ordered for a fee. Registration (free) is required.

Trade Association Forum

UK site that offers a searchable directory for locating trade associations.

Tradepub.com

Offers one-stop location for subscribing to hundreds of industry trade magazines. Includes publications specific to marketing, sales, retailing, distribution as well as many other industry specific publications.

Trendwatching

Interesting site that offers a monthly newsletter examining a consumer trend that appears to be occurring somewhere in the world. Also provides access to all previously reported trends.

University of Michigan Library

Excellent resource that takes a while to navigate because it is so densely packed with information for both US and international governments. For those doing market research a great part of the site is the Search page that contains links to lots of valuable resources including statistics though some information may only be accessible to university users.
