If your website is advertising-supported, this story from Business Insider is a must-read. It reports on Facebook’s challenge to Google’s ad delivery network. While much of what is discussed here is technical, the idea that Facebook has figured out a way to compete with Google for ad dollars is certainly intriguing.
The concept discussed has to do with something called “header bidding.” If you are not on the technical end of running your website, then talk to one of your web people and ask them what this issue is all about. If you have been relying on Google to serve ads, you may be surprised that there may be other ways to maximize your online ad revenue.
